Małgorzata Benedyk-Machaczka defended her doctorate in 2007 at the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy at the University of Műnster in Germany. In 2011, after completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute of Immunology at the University of Műnster in Germany, she joined the Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow as a scholarship holder of the Team Program (FNP).
Her research interests focus on studying the mechanisms underlying the clinical and epidemiological links between periodontitis and bacteria responsible for periodontitis and human systemic diseases, for which she and her team received the Clinical Research Award 2020 from the American Academy of Periodontology. Additionally, Dr. Benedyk-Machaczka is involved in research explaining the mechanisms of cancer formation and the effectiveness of new anticancer therapies, in which animal models in vivo are the main research tool.
